Making a presentation using the laptop & projector

I created a short Power Point file outlining plans for a Technology Fair that PX will be hosting on March 14. Some teens who will be volunteering during the Fair, Megan Pehanick (PX YA librarian) and Robin Romance (PX YS librarian) all had the pleasure of seeing my presentation. Megan will be emailing the gmail account about my "performance".

I found the experience to be simple and am glad to be able to do this "challenge" - making presentations for groups is an important skill to have for BM's!

Downloading books from Listen NJ

Success! Just did this for the first time w/PX's new YA librarian, Megan on our PC Plus. Pretty much blew by the instructions and tried to figure it out intuitively first - downloaded the software and then thought that the book would download directly to the MP3 player. Didn't realize you had to download it to the software first. I actually have never downloaded anything to a MP3 player...I know, got to get with the program one of these days. We downloaded a Joyce Carol Oates title - she rocks!

Tomorrow Megan will be doing this again w/our YS librarian, Robin, and circ's Tech Liaison, Karen. Spread the know-how around!

Blglines

OK - now I've registered some feeds. Can't seem to register w/my branches Programs & Events. I keep getting a message "Internet Explorer cannot display this feed"

Week 2 - left this part out

Challenging part of learning for me - I'm impatient a lot and in a hurry. Sometimes I tend to view a problem just as a problem, not a challenge to overcome. I mean, I FEEL challenged and I USUALLY work to overcome it - but I wouldn't say I look at the issue in a "positive" way. (I'm "learning" to do that! :) )

Easy part of learning for me - playing. Although lately I haven't been taking much time to do this. I'll "learn" to do that, too.

National Geographic article

Want to see if I can get a link to full-text article from Ebsco (National Geo) posted on a blog - if so will put it on Going Green blog

OOOPS

I just read what we're supposed to be blogging about - how this all relates to work - who would've thought?

So...this using blogger and flickr could be good ways to collaborate w/other regarding library programs. Pix could be taken of programs and info posted such as performers' contact info, comments from participants, set up issues, requests for collaboration to other branch locations, etc.

I'll keep thinking about this in between customers.........

Balancing Act

Balancing Act, originally uploaded by StarrGazr.

OK - now I've chosen the same picture as the url I included earlier. Oh how I wish I was where these rocks are now instead of spending my Saturday at the reference desk.....................

This says it all for me

Did a search on Flickr for Martha's Vineyard (where my soul longs to be at times). This photo, titled "Balancing Act" spoke to me today. As you walk along some of the more rocky beaches of the island, you will find numerous rock totems balanced on the shore. They're fun to make...or to just contribute another rock.

Oh, to be so balanced!
